Itinerary:

 

DAY 01: ARRIVAL

Arrive Nairobi international airport, transfer to hotel, and rest of the day free at your own leisure. Overnight at hotel.

 

DAY 02: NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK, ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE, GIRAFFE CENTER AND KAREN BLIXEN MUSEUM

Breakfast at your hotel and after having your breakfast go out to Nairobi is home to dozens of incredible sites and this full-day tour showcases some of the best of this East African city. Follow your expert guide and small group into the stunning landscapes of Nairobi National Park, where you have the chance to see some of the nation's most iconic animals in the wild. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant and then stop at the Karen Bixen Museum, to learn about the history, culture, and traditions of Kenya's diverse people. The tour ends with a visit to the Giraffe Center, where you have a chance to learn about the endangered Rothschild giraffe and see how major conservation efforts are being made to protect this graceful animal.

Stop At:   Karen Blixen Museum Karen Blixen Museum was once the centre piece of a farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills owned by Danish Author Karen and her Swedish Husband, Baron Bror von Blixen Fincke. Located 10km from the city centre, the Museum belongs to a different time period in the history of Kenya. The farm house gained international fame with the release of the movie ‘Out of Africa’ an Oscar winning film based on Karen’s an autobiography by the same title. Stop At:   David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT) Elephant Nursery in Nairobi National Park provides a safe haven to orphaned baby elephants rescued by the DSWT. The Nursery provides the first stage in the hand-rearing and development of milk dependent baby elephants. Once they graduate from the Nursery, aged 2-3 years, the elephants move to one of the DSWT's Reintegration Centres in Tsavo East National Park, from where they will ultimately return to the wild. Duration: 1 hour  Admission Ticket Not Included

Stop At:   Nairobi National Park “The World’s only Wildlife Capital” A short drive out of Nairobi’s central business district is the Nairobi National Park. Wide open grass plains and backdrop of the city scrapers, scattered acacia bush play host to a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes and diverse birdlife with over 400 species recorded. Visitors can enjoy the park’s picnic sites, three campsites and the walking trails for hikers. Duration: 3 hours  Admission Ticket Not Included

DAY 03: FULL-DAY LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK PRIVATE TOUR FROM NAIROBI

Breakfast at your hotel and after having your breakfast go out to The flamingoes that gather at Lake Nakuru National Park are considered one of Africa’s greatest natural sights, but the area’s wildlife and scenery go far beyond the bright pink birds. This 11.5-hour, private guided tour from Nairobi offers ample time to explore the park, spot animals on morning and afternoon game drives, and see birds and hippos from a boat on Lake Naivasha.

Get an early, 6:30am start with pickup at your Nairobi hotel, and enjoy views of the Great Rift Valley as you make the 3-hour drive to Lake Nakuru National Park in a private vehicle. Upon arrival, go deep into the park on a 3-hour game drive with your guide, who will offer commentary throughout the day. The forest and grassland around Lake Nakuru National Park are renowned for bird watching, and the reserve is also home to white rhinos, waterbucks, hippos, and a small population of rare, tree-climbing lions. Break for lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge restaurant; with advance notice, it’s also possible to arrange for a picnic lunch in the park. After lunch, continue through the Lake Nakuru National Park on an afternoon game drive—different animals come out to feed throughout the day. At 3pm, leave Lake Nakuru for Lake Naivasha, the highest-elevation lake in the Great Rift Valley. Take in unobstructed views of the lake on a 1-hour boat ride (own expense), with stops to spot some of Navaisha’s vast bird population, watch eagles feeding, and see the hippos that wallow along the grassy shoreline. Return to shore for an early evening ride to Nairobi, then finish the tour with 6pm drop-off at your hotel.

 

DAY 04: NAIROBI MAASAI VILLAGE DAY TOUR

Breakfast at your hotel and after having your breakfast go out to explore the Maasai Village. Kenya is well known for its landscape and wildlife, but visitors are often left wondering about the lifestyle and culture of the country’s indigenous communities. Separate the fact from the fiction on this day tour to a Maasai village and hear first-hand insights into Maasai traditions directly from community members.
